Islams' European Conquest

August 20, 2009
Islam's European Conquest: Is America Next?
By John Griffing

Islamic lands that were occupied by the enemies will once again become Islamic...We proclaim that we will conquer Rome, like Constantinople was conquered once, and as it will be conquered again."
    - Ali Al-Faqir, the Jordanian Minister for Religious Endowment

Britain, birthplace of parliamentary democracy, has fallen to Islam. Oxford, once home to the likes of C.S. Lewis, now houses a giant Eastern Islamic Studies Center. If this were the only Islamic addition to Oxford, the mood would be less somber, but when Oxford citizens are forced to awake every morning to the Muslim call to prayer with the full consent of the Church of England, nothing short of conquest has taken place.

Britain's Muslim demographic is now so dominant that the British government recently began to allow Islamic civil and religious law, known as Sharia, to be enforced along side British law.

But if religious tolerance is good, why is this a problem? Simple-this is not an issue of religious liberty. Islam is not designed to co-exist with western civilization. It is designed to conquer it.

Most would agree that Judeo-Christian values are consistent with Anglo-American tradition. Can the same be said of Islam? Even Muslims don't think so. The chief Justice of London's Sharia Court made this chilling statement:

If Sharia is implemented then you can turn this country into a haven of peace...Once a thief's hand is cut off, nobody is going to steal. Once an adulterer is stoned, nobody is going to commit this crime at all. This is why we say we want to offer it to British society.

Statements like this have not stopped prominent British figures from endorsing Sharia. The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Protestant equivalent of the Pope, called Sharia "unavoidable."

Under Sharia, non-Muslims are forbidden to even criticize Islam. This is significant, considering that a Policy Exchange Poll found that forty percent of British Muslims prefer to be governed by Sharia. Thirty-six percent believe that "apostates" from Islam should be punished by death. A Guardian Poll indicates that a sizeable number of British Muslims favor terrorist attacks on the United States and even England.[1]

There are presently 85 Sharia courts all across Britain, and, although initial defenders of the transformation claimed that Sharia courts would only exercise authority when consistent with British law, recent developments indicate that Muslims want Sharia pushed still further. Many Muslims advocate a separate police force due to the repeated embarrassment of rampant "honor killings."

Honor killings represent a new and growing form of homicide in many European countries, whereby Muslim families collaborate to kill fellow family members to restore honor. This practice is not alien to the US. Recently, a US Muslim man beheaded his wife, confessed to authorities, and still received a scheduled award from the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR).

Britain is not alone in its Muslim plight. In 2005, France experienced massive Muslim riots in 300 cities. Public buildings were firebombed, 200 policemen were injured, and 4,000 were arrested.[2] This is not unusual as a Muslim response to perceived offenses. Remember the Danish cartoons?

The central problem is assimilation. Most Muslims don't move to a country with the purpose of becoming real citizens of that country. Muslims don't want to be British or French. Muslims come for the wealth of the west, and to make the west Muslim. The evidence is transparent to anyone paying attention. The Parisian riots of 2005 were committed by second and third generation children of Muslim immigrants.

The ultimate aspiration of Muslims is total, global dominion within a theocracy known as a "caliphate." Be they peaceful Muslims or radical Muslims, all share in this goal.

And, incredibly, we cooperate with this reverse assimilation. Somehow we Westerners now feel compelled to assimilate with Muslims instead of expecting the reverse. Paris fashion runways have even begun designing and modeling "Muslim inspired head wraps and...tunics splattered with simulated blood in what some fashionistas dubbed carnage couture."[3]

The problem of Muslim integration is so sensitive that 751 areas have been willingly ceded to Islamic residents by the French government. Called "no-go zones" by many, these areas are off-limits to non-Muslims who value their lives. The UK is home to an indistinguishable number of "no-go zones," with violence toward non-Muslims increasing in once peaceful areas.

Dutch Muslims have such a grip on Holland that those who speak out must live in safe houses, like Dutch parliamentarian Geert Wilders. Yet the Dutch Minister of Justice still wants to make full Sharia an option on the next ballot, which would make Holland the first fully Islamic theocracy in the heart of Europe.

Germany could be next. Matthias Rohe, Judge on the Court of Appeals in Nuremburg wants to see full Sharia in Germany, saying, "we are ready to accept these kind of differences and would apply the norms." Many areas of Germany are now off limits to police and other uniformed personnel, as in France and the UK.

Muslim majorities will soon be a reality. By 2050, one out of every three people in Europe will be age 60 and over. The UN's Populations Division estimates that by 2050, if current birth rates are held, Europe will shrink by 200 million as a new Muslim majority dawns.

And now, onto this stage strides President Barack Hussein Obama, who advocates the European model for all aspects of American life; for the economy, for healthcare, and now, in our dealings with Muslims. We know where that road leads. It has been travelled by an entire continent now doomed to cultural and economic destruction.

Is this what we want? Do we really want European civilization, cultivated for centuries, to suddenly vanish? Do we really want American culture to disappear?

President Obama travels the world apologizing for America's very existence. He redefines Islam's historical goal as one of peaceful coexistence, its moral ethos as one of "tolerance and the dignity of all human beings," despite the evidence to the contrary. He pledges that the US "never will be-at war with Islam," blindly ignoring the present strategic situation. He claims that we are the "biggest Muslim country in the world," despite the fact that 80 percent of Americans say they are Christian.

The US has steadily been bowing to Islamic pressure. Many US banks and investment firms have formally adopted Sharia Finance. Harold Koh, recent Dean of Yale Law School and current Obama Advisor to the Secretary of State, openly talks about the compatibility of Sharia with American legal precedent.

What is our fascination with Islam? Why are we so willing to capitulate to its aims without resistance? Can't western civilization continue to champion religious liberty without committing suicide?

Radical Islam is inconsistent with American ideals, plain and simple. No two ideologies that embrace concepts so divergent as global domination and freedom can hope to coexist. There can be no compromise.

Europe is among the walking dead; their future is an Islamic one. America, however, still has a choice if we have the courage to make it.

We've Figured Him Out

We've Figured Him Out
By Ben Stein

Why is President Barack Obama in such a hurry to get His socialized medicine bill passed? Because he and his Cunning circle realize some basic truths:

The American people in their unimaginable kindness and trust voted for a pig in a poke in 2008. They wanted so much to believe Barack Obama was somehow better and different from other ultra-leftists that they simply took him on faith.

They ignored his anti-white writings in his books.

They ignored his quiet acceptance of hysterical anti-American diatribes by his minister, Jeremiah Wright.

They ignored his refusal to explain years at a time of his life as a student.

They ignored his ultra-left record as a "community organizer," Illinois state legislator, and Senator.

The American People ignored his total zero of an academic record as a student and teacher, his complete lack of scholarship when he was being touted as a scholar.

Now, the American people are starting to wake up to the truth.

Barack Obama is a super likeable super leftist, not a fan of this country, way, way too cozy with the terrorist leaders in the Middle East, way beyond naïveté, all the way into active destruction of
our interests and our allies and our future.

The American people have already awakened to the truth that the stimulus bill -- a great idea in theory -- was really an immense bribe to Democrat interest groups, and in no way an effort to help all Americans.

Now, Americans are waking up to the truth that ObamaCare basically means that every time you are sick or injured, you will have a clerk from the Department of Motor Vehicles telling your doctor what he can and cannot do.

The American people already know that Mr. Obama's plan to lower health costs while expanding coverage and bureaucracy is a myth, a promise of something that never was and never will be -- a bureaucracy lowering costs in a free society. Either the costs go up or the free society goes away.

These are perilous times. Mrs. Hillary Clinton, our Secretary of State, has given Iran the go-ahead to have nuclear weapons, an unqualified betrayal of the nation.

Now, we face a devastating loss of freedom at home in health care. It will be joined by controls on our lives to "protect us" from global warming, itself largely a fraud if believed to be caused by man.

Mr. Obama knows Americans are getting wise and will stop him if he delays at all in taking away our freedoms. There is his urgency and our opportunity.

Once freedom is lost, America is lost. Wake up, beloved America.

NEWSLETTER
July 30, 2009

Folks, while going over some emails in the office, I came some interesting information on the Democrats’ big health care bill, H.R. 3200, America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009. While this is federal legislation and not state, the topic is of enough significance that I thought many of you would be interested in reading it. Please find below page references and direct quotes from the proposed bill.

We The People Are Coming

Listen. Because we are coming. We the people are coming.

The following letter, read on Glenn Beck's show, is rapidly circulating around the country. Americans everywhere identify with this 53-year-old woman. She has given us a voice. Once you read this, you will want to forward it to all of your friends...

GLENN BECK: I got a letter from a woman in Arizona. She writes an open letter to our nation's leadership:

I'm a home grown American citizen, 53, registered Democrat all my life. Before the last presidential election I registered as a Republican because I no longer felt the Democratic Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me.
Now I no longer feel the Republican Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or representative in Washington represents my views or works to pursue the issues important to me. There must be someone.

Please tell me who you are. Please stand up and tell me that you are there and that you're willing to fight for our Constitution as it was written. Please stand up now. You might ask yourself what my views and issues are that I would horribly feel so disenfranchised by both major political parties. What kind of nut job am I? Will you please tell me?

Well, these are briefly my views and issues for which I seek representation:

One, illegal immigration. I want you to stop coddling illegal immigrants and secure our borders. Close the underground tunnels. Stop the violence and the trafficking in drugs and people. No amnesty, not again. Been there, done that, no resolution.
P.S., I'm not a racist. This isn't to be confused with legal immigration.

Two, the TARP bill, I want it repealed and I want no further funding supplied to it. We told you no, but you did it anyway. I want the remaining unfunded 95% repealed. Freeze, repeal.

Three: Czars, I want the circumvention of our checks and balances stopped immediately. Fire the czars. No more czars. Government officials answer to the process, not to the president. Stop trampling on our Constitution and honor it.

Four, cap and trade. The debate on global warming is not over.
There is more to say.

Five, universal healthcare. I will not be rushed into another expensive decision. Don't you dare try to pass this in the middle of the night and then go on break. Slow down!

Six, growing government control. I want states rights and sovereignty fully restored. I want less government in my life, not more. Shrink it down. Mind your own business. You have enough to take care of with your real obligations. Why don't you start there.

Seven, ACORN. I do not want ACORN and its affiliates in charge of our 2010 census. I want them investigated. I also do not want mandatory escrow fees contributed to them every time on every real estate deal that closes. Stop the funding to ACORN and its affiliates pending impartial audits and investigations.
I do not trust them with taking the census over with our taxpayer money. I don't trust them with our taxpayer money. Face up to the allegations against them and get it resolved before taxpayers get any more involved with them. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, hello. Stop protecting your political buddies. You work for us, the people. Investigate.

Eight, redistribution of wealth. No, no, no. I work for my money. It is mine. I have always worked for people with more money than I have because they gave me jobs. That is the only redistribution of wealth that I will support. I never got a job from a poor person. Why do you want me to hate my employers? Why -- what do you have against shareholders making a profit?

Nine, charitable contributions. Although I never got a job from a poor person, I have helped many in need. Charity belongs in our local communities, where we know our needs best and can use our local talent and our local resources. Butt out, please. We want to do it ourselves.

Ten, corporate bailouts. Knock it off. Sink or swim like the rest of us. If there are hard times ahead, we'll be better off just getting into it and letting the strong survive. Quick and painful. Have you ever ripped off a Band-Aid? We will pull together.
Great things happen in America under great hardship. Give us the chance to innovate. We cannot disappoint you more than you have disappointed us.

Eleven, transparency and accountability. How about it? No, really, how about it? Let's have it. Let's say we give the buzzwords a rest and have some straight honest talk. Please try -- please stop manipulating and trying to appease me with clever wording. I am not the idiot you obviously take me for. Stop sneaking around and meeting in back rooms making deals with your friends. It will only be a prelude to your criminal investigation. Stop hiding things from me.

Twelve, unprecedented quick spending. Stop it now. Take a breath. Listen to the people. Let's just slow down and get some input from some nonpoliticians on the subject. Stop making everything an emergency. Stop speed reading our bills into law.
I am not an activist. I am not a community organizer. Nor am I a terrorist, a militant or a violent person. I am a parent and a grandparent. I work. I'm busy. I am busy, and I am tired.
I thought we elected competent people to take care of the business of government so that we could work, raise our families, pay our bills, have a little recreation, complain about
taxes, endure our hardships, pursue our personal goals, cut our lawn, wash our cars on the weekends and be responsible contributing members of society and teach our children to be the same all while living in the home of the free and land of the brave.

I entrusted you with upholding the Constitution. I believed in the checks and balances to keep from getting far off course. What happened? You are very far off course. Do you really think I find humor in the hiring of a speed reader to unintelligently ramble all through a bill that you signed into law without knowing what it contained? I do not. It is a mockery of the responsibility I have entrusted to you. It is a slap in the face.
I am not laughing at your arrogance. Why is it that I feel as if you would not trust me to make a single decision about my own life and how I would live it but you should expect that I should trust you with the debt that you have laid on all of us and our children. We did not want the TARP bill. We said no. We would repeal it if we could. I am sure that we still cannot. There is such urgency and recklessness in all of the recent spending.

From my perspective, it seems that all of you have gone insane.
I also know that I am far from alone in these feelings. Do you honestly feel that your current pursuits have merit to patriotic Americans? We want it to stop. We want to put the brakes on everything that is being rushed by us and forced upon us. We want our voice back. You have forced us to put our lives on hold to straighten out the mess that you are making.
We will have to give up our vacations, our time spent with our children, any relaxation time we may have had and money we cannot afford to spend on you to bring our concerns to Washington.
Our president often knows all the right buzzword is unsustainable. Well, no kidding. How many tens of thousands of dollars did the focus group cost to come up with that word? We don't want your overpriced words. Stop treating us like we're morons.

We want all of you to stop focusing on your reelection and do the job we want done, not the job you want done or the job your party wants done. You work for us and at this rate I guarantee you not for long because we are coming. We will be heard and we will be represented. You think we're so busy with our lives that we will never come for you?
We are the formerly silent majority, all of us who quietly work, pay taxes, obey the law, vote, save money, keep our noses to the grindstone and we are now looking up at you. You have awakened us, the patriotic spirit so strong and so powerful that it had been sleeping too long. You have pushed us too far. Our numbers are great. They may surprise you.
For every one of us who will be there, there will be hundreds more that could not come. Unlike you, we have their trust. We will represent them honestly, rest assured. They will be at the polls on voting day to usher you out of office. We have cancelled vacations. We will use our last few dollars saved. We will find the representation among us and a grassroots campaign will flourish.
We didn't ask for this fight. But the gloves are coming off. We do not come in violence, but we are angry. You will represent us or you will be replaced with someone who will. There are candidates among us when he will rise like a Phoenix from the ashes that you have made of our constitution.

Democrat, Republican, independent, libertarian. Understand this. We don't care. Political parties are meaningless to us. Patriotic Americans are willing to do right by us and our Constitution and that is all that matters to us now. We are going to fire all of you who abuse power and seek more. It is not your power. It is ours and we want it back. We entrusted you with it and you abused it.

You are dishonorable. You are dishonest. As Americans we are ashamed of you. You have brought shame to us. If you are not representing the wants and needs of your constituency loudly and consistently, in spite of the objections of your party, you will be fired.
Did you hear? We no longer care about your political parties. You need to be loyal to us, not to them. Because we will get you fired and they will not save you. If you do or can represent me, my issues, my views, please stand up. Make your identity known. You need to make some noise about it. Speak up. I need to know who you are.
If you do not speak up, you will be herded out with the rest of the sheep and we will replace the whole damn congress if need be one by one. We are coming. Are we coming for you? Who do you represent? What do you represent?

Listen. Because we are coming. We the people are coming.

An Important Message

Delivered at the Lubbock , Texas , TEA Party by Dr. Donald May

At the TEA PARTY, a black man, Dr. Donald May, delivered this message from the courthouse steps in Lubbock . He electrified the audience like I haven't seen in a long time. His delivery was masterful. The news media was there, but not one word of this man's appearance ever appeared on TV or in print, even though he completely dominated the scene.

Ladies and gentlemen, This is a Time For Courage.

We are gathered here today on the Plains of West Texas in common purpose. We are here to remind our government that this is our country. We the People are still in charge, and our government is still our servant and not our master.

Our Nation's founding document is The Declaration of Independence .. It tells us that our rights come from God and not from a small group of Elite men and women.

Our Constitution starts with the words "We the People." Our Constitution was written for ordinary Americans like you and me. Our Constitution protects us from our government and from the politicians.

Our President has complained that our Constitution gives ordinary people too much protection. He has ridiculed us for the high value we place on our Bibles, our guns, our personal property, and our Liberty .. He tells us we do not deserve to keep the money we have earned.

We are told freedom has not worked. Personal responsibility, free enterprise, and Liberty have not been effective. Our government will now make more of our decisions for us.

Other than our military, I can think of not one government agency I have ever found to be helpful.

And speaking of our military, how about those Navy Seals blowing the heads off those three terrorist pirates? Don't you just wish our entire government would function with such efficiency, professionalism, and courage?

We watch in disbelief as our beloved United States is weakened economically, militarily, and morally by a Radical President and his eager accomplices.

What has taken generations to build is systematically destroyed and replaced with the same Socialist Evil that brought poverty, destruction, and despair to untold hundreds of millions.

The problems we face today have occurred because we have not defended our Nation from Socialism. For too long we have allowed the wrong people to make the worst possible decisions.

The Bible warns us of class hatred. The Radical leadership of our government daily fans the evil flames of class envy.

Our European and Canadian friends beg us to not make the same Socialist mistakes they did.

The President of the European Union warned our President that his Socialist economic plans are taking the World down the "road to Hell."

The path to power for Socialists includes taking God and guns from the citizens. Without spiritual and physical protection, people cannot defend themselves and their Liberty . They soon become slaves.

We are angered that our President apologizes for the exceptionalism and heroism of the United States of America . We are deeply troubled that he told others the United States is not a Christian nation.

We are angered that we have been called cowards and racists because we oppose Socialism. Socialism is not racial. Socialism is an equal opportunity destroyer.

We are angered that a recent Department of Homeland Security report has singled out our military men and women who are returning home as being radical threats.

The report also characterizes you and me as right-wing extremists and radicals because we favor smaller government and lower taxes.

You and I are average citizens who believe just like most of our fellow Americans. We want our government to leave us alone and to keep its hands off our money, our religion, or guns, our private property, and our lives.

We demand that our government stop spending money it does not have.

Stop confiscating our money and private property.

Stop printing money. Stop subsidizing Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the other failed financial institutions and companies.

Mr. President, stop appointing tax cheats to positions of power and influence.

Mr. President, secure our borders!

Mr. President, do not divert money from our missile defense, F-22 Raptors, and other vital military equipment. This gives encouragement, aid, and comfort to our enemies. Protecting us is your number one job.

Mr. President, do not give voting rights to millions of illegal aliens and felons. You have no more right to create new voters for your benefit than you do to use our money to buy the 2010 and 2012 Elections.

We gather peacefully here today because there is a growing concern for what our government is doing to us and to our future. We fear for the very survival of our Republic.

Yet there is much to make us hopeful and to fill our hearts with optimism and courage. This is still our country!

The Constitution of the Unites States belongs to We the People. Our Constitution still protects us from our government.

Call every possible elected official, including our President, Vice President, and the Speaker of the House.

Demand that they stop stealing our money and giving it to ACORN and their other political supporters in order to buy votes.

Call Senators Cornyn and Hutchison, and Representative Neugebauer. Thank them. Urge them to do much more. Remind them now is a time for action and not for campaigning.

Volunteer to work on our 2010 Census. Confront ACORN. Keep our Census honest... We must not allow our President to take control of our Census for his political advantage.

We must replace as much of our Far Left Congress as possible in 2010. Get involved... Do not let the ACORN control our 2010 Election.

Talk with someone every day who does not understand our nation's history and our great heritage. Tell them why the United States is a good and prosperous nation. It still remains that brightly lit city on the hill. It still is the best hope for all mankind.

Talk with all of the young people you can find. They are our future. Many do not understand what they have and that their future is being destroyed.

Encourage your elected State officials to pass legislation that will protect us from our Federal government. This is a time for strong peaceful action. Let us pray that We the People can quickly return our government to its Constitutional responsibilities.

Our President and Congress were elected to be our servants and not our masters..

May God help our President and Congress to quickly realize the error of their ways and stop their reckless and unwarranted spending, cut our taxes, and reduce the size of our Federal bureaucracy.

If they do not, may God grant us the courage and determination to vote them out of power next year.

May God richly bless and protect each of you, and our Constitution, as together we pursue Liberty !

Delivered at the Lubbock , Texas , TEA Party by Dr. Donald May

This should be on the front page of every newspaper in the USA instead of being swept under the rug and kept off the news broadcasts. Our news media sucks, plain and simple. They are not "reporting the news,"-- they are telling us what THEY want us to hear and that is not reporting the news. One more step toward Socialism. Let's keep this going so everyone will know the truth.

A Teacher Speaks Out

A Former Teacher of Muslim Students Speaks Out

This past spring, at one of the ACT! for America “Citizens in Action” conferences, two of the attendees, independent of each other, spoke to Executive Director Guy Rodgers about their experiences with Muslim students in that city’s public schools.

One was a teacher who said that he had surveyed his Muslim students to see if any of them would disavow the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. He said not one of his Muslim students would.

The second had a friend who was a kindergarten teacher, who described how maintaining classroom order was becoming increasingly difficult when five-year-old Muslim students would tell her “You can’t tell me what to do, infidel pig!”

Perhaps these are exceptions to the typical behavior of Muslim students in our public schools. We certainly hope and would like to believe this is the case. But even if these are exceptions, they illustrate the supremacist and radical ideology at the root of political Islam. If you watched the video we sent you a few weeks ago you saw the “grown-up” face of that ideology in the actions of Muslim “security guards” at the International Arab Festival in Dearborn, Michigan.

Several months ago we received a letter from one of our members, who taught Palestinian and other Arab students in an American public school back in 1979. We share her story with you below. As you read it, keep in mind that this was thirty years ago — and those children are now adults and likely have children of their own.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was a teacher of Palestinian youngsters back between 1979 and 1983. What I experienced then illustrates that what we are seeing today is not suddenly a new development, but rather has been part of a mission that began unfolding years ago. I believe that perhaps my story might shed some insight into their way of thinking, which is different than the way many of us think.

During the Carter administration I suddenly became aware that people from various Middle-Eastern countries were arriving in this country in droves. There were so many Arabic speaking children entering Detroit Public Schools,as well as other school systems in the Detroit area, such as Dearborn, Dearborn Heights, Downriver, etc., that there were not enough Arabic speaking teachers to teach them. That is how this Jewish-American, Bilingual (BBE) teacher, whose endorsement was in Spanish, was enlisted, along with a number of other non-Arabic speaking BBE teachers, to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) to these students whose first language was Arabic.

We were given teaching assistants to keep up the children's Arabic. (As an aside, no one could ever tell me why this was necessary since all of the children, even the poorest, went to Arabic School after public school each day).

Before beginning our assignment, teachers such as myself, were required to attend a sensitivity workshop to learn about the culture of our students. I will never forget the first words out of our presenter's mouth (a Lebanese-American woman whose father settled in Detroit during the 1950's), “To understand my people, you must first know and understand our creed: 'You see us with one eye. We see you with two.'”

Two questionable actions that I recall within the last few years that illustrate this point have to do with reconnaissance or surveillance (seeing things well with two eyes).

The first one had to do with an American Muslim man who was picked up by the police for taking photos of the Mackinaw Bridge, in Michigan. This took place outside of tourist season. He was hours and miles from his home in Dearborn and seemingly did not have a good explanation for why he was there.

The other involved a carload of Muslim American men who were found taking photos of Detroit's Water Department, and were thought to be acting suspiciously.

I attended another Arabic sensitivity workshop, a few years later, attended by several hundred people like me – social workers, teachers, and others working with the Arab population. A Dearborn judge was the keynote speaker. He was an Arab-American, who appeared to be born and raised in this country. He told no fewer than two extremely anti-Jewish jokes. I remember thinking to myself, "Why are we supposed to be sensitive to them, when they show no sensitivity to other minorities?" Unfortunately, to my chagrin and shame, I did not have the courage to stand up and ask him that very question. I wish to God that I had!

The aide assigned to work with the children in Arabic was a young woman who turned eighteen sometime during that first year. I explained to her that I was Jewish. We both felt knowlege of this fact might hinder the children's ability to learn from me if they or their parents knew. So it was not divulged to them.

I love teaching and children. I became very fond of my students and their parents, who were generally very charming. Needless to say, it was disconcerting at best, when I asked my students, who were from kindergarten age to sixth graders, to tell me about whatever holiday they had just celebrated. I always heard a similar excited refrain, "Oh, it was great! We got money and candy – and we will have to kill every Jewish man, woman, and baby in the world!"

When I inquired, "Why do you have to kill every Jewish man, woman and baby in the world?"

They replied, "They are our enemy."

Their answer was always exactly the same, "They will grow up to be a soldier."

Most of my students were Palestinian, I had perhaps five to ten from Yemen, a few from Jordan, and two Bedouins, from Israel. Also two girls who had been abducted from their Nicaraguan mother by their father who was Palestinian.

My aide was pretty and a sweet young lady. I was fond of her. I realized that I could have had a daughter that age. We often had lunch together and sometimes her cousin, a young woman, about the same age, would join us. She was an invited guest in my home quite a few times.

I happily threw a party for her at school when she became a U.S. citizen. She was a Shiite Muslim, from Lebanon.

A while after that party, a father of two of my students came into my classroom. Unlike most of my students' fathers, who were blue-collar workers, this man wore a tweed suit and spoke with an Oxford accent. He was handsome, self-possessed and intelligent. He told me that his kids had informed him that there were no Arabic books in my classroom. He wondered if I would be interested in having him order some fun and interesting books, in Arabic, just for the instruction of school-aged children.

About six weeks later he brought a box of books to my room and proudly showed me brand-new, slick, paperback books that were lemon yellow and pictured darling children on the cover as well as within. After he left, I requested that my aide carefully read the books, then give me a synopsis of the content and tell me whether she found them appropriate.

Later that day she came to me and told me, "These are beautiful books! They'd be wonderful for the students."

However, something did not feel right to me. I became increasingly bothered about those books as the day passed. I took one of those books to my supervisor to ask her if she approved of it. She was Chaldean, a Christian woman, originally from Iraq. She looked at the book and kept making shocked noises. Finally, she looked up and exclaimed, "(my first name), you of all people do not want this book taught in your classroom, right under your nose!” For starters, it was published in Libya.

She leafed through the book and came to a picture of a boy and a girl, who looked like scouts, with shorts on, shirts, and ties around their collars, playing in a park that had swings and slides. "What do you see in this picture?" she asked. I told her. Then she inquired, "What do you see in the sky?"

I told her that I had thought it was a plane. "No," she announced, "it is a missile headed to Israel."

She turned to another picture. "Now, what do you see here?"

It was a picture of a classroom, with children, a teacher, Arabic writing on the blackboard. It seemed innocuous, but I spied something in the sky, out of the window. "I suppose that is another missile headed for Israel," I told her.

"No!" her reply startled me, "that is a missile headed to the U.S!!!"

The father who brought me the books returned, during a class period, close to two weeks later. He asked me why the books were not being utilized in the classroom. I explained that all teaching materials used in Detroit's classrooms needed to be given approval before they could be used, and these were turned down. I returned the books to him.

In retrospect, I so wish that I had kept one of those books! I wouldn't be surprised if they were simply taken to another classroom where they could actually still be in use today. Or even brought back to the very classroom I had taught in, after Arabic speaking teachers took my place.

I would be remiss if I did not impart what took place during one lesson in which I taught six, sixth grade boys. We read about Thor Heyerdahl’s excursion from North Africa, in a reed boat, fashioned like pictures seen in ancient tombs, to the Caribbean. He did it to see if such a craft could have made it to the New World. If so, the travelers in it could have influenced the natives of some of those countries to worship a sun god and build pyramids.

He selected six men to participate, each of a different race and religion. The idea was that they were to be dependent on each other in order to survive, as well as to make it succeed - like we all are dependent on one another to survive on the planet Earth.

This experience, recorded in "The National Geographic Magazine," did take place, and was proclaimed a success. After reading about this, five of the six boys proclaimed that they would never agree to go on a boat with a Jew. But one then said that if he did agree to go, he would kill the Jew during the trip. Most of the others thought that was a terrific idea. However, the Jordanian student disagreed with them and said he thought it would be a fascinating experiment.

This made me realize that there are Muslims who think for themselves, who are trying to survive as we are, who have good hearts and have integrity. In my opinion, this is why we are obligated to stand by, stand up for, and protect in any way we can, those brave Muslim Moderates who are trying to speak for fairness and sanity. Who are grateful for, and appreciate this country for the values it stands for. Who are not interested in overthrowing it and turning it into an Islamic entity.

It is frightening to realize that there have been children raised in this country, for at least the last thirty years, that have been inculcated to hate this country and all non-believers. Children that may have been instructed to think this way in our own public schools, as well as in their Arabic schools.

I told friends, family members, and anyone I thought would listen, way back in the early 80's, that there would be trouble in twenty or thirty years in this country if the influx of these people wouldn't be checked. That we were creating a “Fifth Column.”

I am glad that I finally made a written record of what I saw and experienced years ago. I was put in a rather unique place in time and had the opportunity to realize things that many Americans, including my own Jewish people, can’t understand or don’t want to. Unfortunately, so many are in denial.

I would rather have been completely wrong about my fears, conclusions, and concerns back then, than be right. They have brought me thirty years of grief and worry. I pray that ACT for America will help keep my fears from becoming a reality. Thankfully, from what I can see about ACT I am grateful to say I think it’s possible.

No More Opium ...

No More Opium, No More Money for Afghan Villagers
Sunday, August 02, 2009

Afghan farmers work in an opium poppy field in Nawa district of Helmand province, south of Kabul, Afghanistan.
SHAHRAN, Afghanistan — For as long as anyone can remember, there was no need for paper money in this remote corner of the Hindu Kush. The common currency was what grew in everyone's backyard — opium.

When children felt like buying candy, they ran into their father's fields and returned with a few grams of opium folded inside a leaf. Their mothers collected it in plastic bags, trading 18 grams for a meter of fabric or two liters of cooking oil. Even a visit to the barbershop could be settled in opium.

But the economy of this village sputtered to a halt last year when the government began aggressively enforcing a ban on opium production. Villagers were not allowed to plant their only cash crop. Now shops are empty and farmers are in debt, as entire communities spiral into poverty.

Opium is one of the biggest problems facing this troubled country, because it is deeply woven into the fabric of daily life as well as into the economics of insurgency. Afghanistan supplies 93 percent of the world's opium, and it is one of the main sources of funding for the growing Taliban movement.

Yet the government ban on opium is working at best unevenly. In areas of the country under Taliban control, opium production is going strong. In government-held areas like Shahran, it has gone down drastically, but at the cost of the livelihood of hundreds of thousands of people. Their anger is imperiling government support in one of the few areas of the country that has resisted the Taliban's advance.

"Now we don't even have 10 Afghanis ($0.25) to give our children to buy bubble gum," says opium farmer Abdul Hay. "Before they would go into the field and collect the money themselves."

Two years ago, opium, the raw ingredient used to make heroin, grew on nearly half a million acres in Afghanistan. The harvest was worth about $4 billion, or equal to nearly half the country's GDP in 2007. As much as a tenth — almost half a billion dollars — went to local strongmen, including the Taliban, according to the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime.

Under intense international pressure, the government redoubled its effort to crack down on opium farmers. By last year, the number of acres planted with poppy had dropped by a fifth, yet the Taliban's finances remained largely untouched. Ninety-eight percent of Afghanistan's opium is now grown in just seven of the country's 34 provinces — all areas under partial or total Taliban control.

Opium was so entrenched in Badakshan province, where Shahran is located, that it is said Marco Polo sampled it when he passed through in the 13th century. Until recently, the sloping mountain faces were awash with pink, purple and magenta poppies, nodding in the wind. But in the past year, poppy production has gone down 95 percent.

The villagers here held a meeting and decided two years ago not to plant opium, after government radio messages warned that poppy fields would be destroyed and opium growers jailed. Posters distributed throughout the area showed a man with his hands bound by the stem of the opium poppy.

The villagers say they did as the government told them, and planted their fields with wheat, barley, mustard and melons. But these crops need more care than the tough opium poppy, which will bloom with little water or fertilizer.

Most of the wheat fields yielded little because the farmers couldn't afford to fertilize the land. Even where yields were decent, farmers say they could have earned between two and 10 times more by planting the same land with opium.

"See this mustard? It can take care of my family for one month," says 25-year-old farmer Abdul Saboor, pulling up a shoot of the green plant and snapping it open with his teeth. "When we planted opium in this same plot, it took care of all our expenses for an entire year."

The hole in the economy is swallowing up the community, from the farmer to the turbaned shopkeepers whose scales used for weighing opium now sit idle.

Every month, shopkeeper Abdul Ahmed used to bring $20,000 worth of goods to sell in the bazaar. It's been four months since his last truckload, and he has only sold $1,000. Ahmed is one of 40 traders left; there used to be 400.

"We open in the morning and go back at night. No money comes in. No one buys anything," says Ahmed. "There is no money left in this village. Opium is the only income we had."

Villagers say desperation is pushing hundreds to immigrate to neighboring Iran, where they work as day laborers. Farmers throughout the region are also sinking deeply into debt. They borrow money to buy staples like rice and oil, which they used to buy with opium. They also take loans to buy seeds and fertilizer and to rent donkeys to take the wheat to market — an expense opium did not bring because all the local shops accepted it as legal tender.

On a hill flanking the highway in Argu District, a 4-hour drive southeast of here, a thin farmer is bent over cutting wheat with a hand-held sickle. Abdul Mahin says he is several hundred dollars in debt to the man who sold him fertilizer.

"If we plant two bags of wheat, then we'll have just enough money to buy the seeds to plant another two bags of wheat," says the gray-bearded farmer. "We're going backwards. Of course we're angry at the government."

A small number of farmers in other towns are planting opium despite the ban. Most are seeing their fields destroyed, as government agents intensify patrols.

Farmer Abdulhamid, 55, says he has only rain-fed land, and none of it is irrigated. So he can't grow wheat and barley with much success. Unless the government helps, he says, he will have to plant opium again.

"We are getting poorer day by day," says Abdulhamid, in the village of Pengani. "What should I do? Kill my children so that I don't have to feed them?"

When farmers were asked to stop planting, they were promised help from the government. Badakshan is set to receive $1,000 for each hectare (roughly 2 1/2 acres) of land freed of poppies — some $10 million this year. It's being used to build three clinics and three schools, pave a major road and rebuild six fallen bridges.

Farmers say a distant clinic or bridge is not going to feed their children. But counternarcotics experts and government officials respond that the opium ban is necessary.

"These poor farmers are going to get stepped on and get hurt in this effort," says former Drug Enforcement Agency official Doug Wankel, who organized the U.S. counternarcotics effort here in 2003. "But it's a pain that has to be endured for the good of the masses."

"In the U.S. and the U.K., when people do an illegal activity, the police stops them, right? This is an illegal act, so we need to stop it in order to enforce the rule of law," says Zalmai Afzali, a spokesman for the Ministry of Counternarcotics. He also notes the link to the insurgency: "I try to explain to the farmer that cultivates poppy that he is buying a coffin for his child."

Yet the poverty created by getting rid of opium may be stoking terrorism. Nangahar — which became poppy free last year and is held up as an example of government control — has seen a rapid increase in extremism, according to a field study by David Mansfield, counternarcotics consultant for the U.N. and the World Bank.

By April last year, the province rescinded agreements to limit the movement of anti-government groups on its border with Pakistan. By July, these groups were believed to have set up bases in four districts next to Pakistan. By September, they were attacking government buildings. And by October, there were Taliban checkpoints.

Also, the crackdown in the country's far north is unlikely to stop the flow of opium and money to the Taliban in the south. In Zabul — the home province of Taliban spiritual chief Mullah Omar — poppy production grew by 45 percent last year.

Helmand province, a Taliban stronghold, grew so much opium last year that if it was a separate country, it would rank as the world's top opium producer, according to Gretchen Peters, author of "Seeds of Terror," on how the Taliban is bankrolling itself through drug smuggling. Peters says the Taliban's video messages now talk about securing smuggling routes and protecting poppy plantations.

Poppy fields in Taliban areas are so dangerous that eradication teams comb them for bombs before trying to destroy them. Last year 78 government agents were killed trying to destroy fields in the south. By contrast, the worst they faced in Badakshan was crying farmers.

Zainuddin, the head security officer for Darayim district in Badakshan, says he feels awful every time he uproots a poppy field.

"Sometimes I cry as I am hitting the poppies," says Zainuddin, who like many Afghans goes by a single name. "Because I know these are poor people and I am taking away the only thing they have."

Over the past month, dozens of fields have been destroyed in the mountains of Badakshan. Nasrullah, a 35-year-old farmer, planted three small plots of white-and-violet poppies inside a hill of wheat, hoping the taller crop would hide the illegal blossoms.

He stood in silence on a recent morning as nine police officers crossed a small gulch and climbed the hill. They assaulted his crop, hitting the flowers with long sticks until they fell to the ground. He put his face in his hands.

"I didn't plant this for my own pleasure," he says. "I planted this so that my family could eat. All the rest of this is worth nothing," he says, waving at the wheat. "The choice I have to make now is either kill myself. Or leave the country."

["Hey my friend had a great idea, the Western countries should buy all that opium for pharmaceuticals--it's a no brainer!"]

Obama Health Care Bill: The Return Of Aktion T4

Obama Health Care Bill: The Return of Aktion T4?
We received the following from Jan Poller, the same person who alerted us to the reams of anti-Semitic hate speech and 9/11 denial at MoveOn.org’s now-disgraced Action Forum. We encourage our readers to compare elements of Barack Obama’s health care plan (give the senior citizen a pain pill instead of a pacemaker) to a similar public health care plan that existed from about 1939 to 1941.

An open letter to our Congressman on how bills are written and the Health care bill in particular
by Jan Mel Poller

This is an open letter. For it to be effective, it needs wide circulation. If you agree, please distribute this to friends, family, your mailing list and post it to your blogs.

Dear Senators and Representatives:

A number of you have made it obvious that you refuse to read the Health Care Bill that you are voting on. It seems that your staff hasn’t read it either. I am taking on the role of an unpaid intern to tell you what is in the bill.

Before I get to the nitty-gritty, I have a few points to make with you.

You were elected by us to represent us, not to represent the President of the United States. We pay your salary and we vote you in or out of office.

We, the citizens of the United States, are entitled to read and comment on the bills submitted to you. According to the 1st Amendment to the Constitution we are allowed to petition our government. When major changes are slipped into a bill in the middle of the night, to be voted on the next day, We the People are denied the right to understand what you are doing and to submit our objections.

Rep. John Conyers told us that bills are too complicated to read without lawyers. In the military, we have men and women with high school educations maintaining advanced fighter planes, nuclear submarines, nuclear powered aircraft carriers and all other weapons systems. They can do this because they have manuals that are clear and don’t require an advanced engineering degree to understand. Looking at the Senate and House bills, I venture to say that even lawyers can’t understand the obfuscating and convoluted language. I believe that this is done on purpose. We expect plain language in our laws. If you can’t understand what a bill says, you are obligated to reject the bill.

The Health Care Bill (whatever you name it) is particularly troublesome. It is as though you are trying to deceive us. If you are going to limit health care availability, tell us that in plain language. I should not have to deduce this from listening to Committee discussions on C-Span.

My wife and I were listening to the Rangel and Waxman House committees on the proposed bills. They did not come out and say they were going to restrict health care availability. What they did talk about was:

· Closing 45% of the Medical Imaging Centers

· Closing all Doctor Owned Hospitals

· Not letting a hospital add facilities and beds without federal government approval

What right does the government have to close private businesses that comply with all the laws? (You did this to car dealers putting about 250,000 people out of work.) IF the demand for these facilities exists, they will survive, otherwise they will fail.

A personal note: I am 70 years old. Four years ago, I had colon cancer. I was operated on and given chemotherapy. The decisions were made by my doctor, a committee of doctors reviewing the case, and myself. Recently, a routine test of an antigen showed an increase. A second test 10 days later showed a further increase. I was given a PET/MRI combo scan that showed metastases to my liver. This occurs in something like 60% of colon cancer patients. I was operated in something like two weeks from the second antigen test. I am now undergoing chemotherapy. I have a fear, based on the committee discussions and statements by the President, that due to my age, I might be denied these treatments under the so-called Healthcare Bill. If I was not operated on and be given the chemo for the metastases, I would be dead before the end of the year. With the surgery and chemotherapy that I am now taking, I now have a good chance of living more than 5 more years.

The government computer may think that I have no value to society and thus dying is the best option for the good of the country. [Our side note: Can anybody say "Aktion T4?"] That I am writing this article is proof that I do have a function.

We don’t like Marxist philosophy being slipped in by using obfuscating language. You give power to “The Secretary” to limit how much many an insurance company can make. You don’t tell us this. We deduce this because “The Secretary” can demand that a company rebate money to the insured. At the same time, the president has appointed a “Compensation Czar” who will tell us how much people can earn.

In summary, We the People want thoughtful deliberations and time to read understandable bills. We do not want to be hustled, railroaded, lied to or misled.

If health care for uninsured is in a crisis, then take some of the money from the Stimulus Bill and cover these people while the new laws are worked out. Since we have no way to hold a referendum for citizens to change society changing bills being pushed through the House and Senate, I think that these bills should not be voted on before the people elected in 2010 take office in 2011. That allows us to make our desires as a society known.

Now that we know how poorly Congress has been working, we want these changes immediately. Your re-election depends on it.
