The claim came as the Obama administration, with the assistance of Sens. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and the open involvement of the No. 2 man at the U.S. State Department, made a concerted effort to see Muslim Brotherhood leaders in Egypt released. In an interview with the News Agency Anatolia in Turkey, Saad Al-Shater, the son of imprisoned Muslim Brotherhood leader Khairat Al-Shater, said his father “had in his hand” evidence that will put Obama in prison. In a thinly veiled threat, Saad Al-Shater said a U.S. delegation was sent to Cairo by Obama to press for the release of the imprisoned Muslim Brotherhood leaders, including his father to prevent the release of explosive information. Arabic-speaking former PLO member Walid Shoebat has translated the report by the Turkish News Agency Anatolia as follows: In an interview with the Anatolia News Agency, Saad Al-Shater, the son of a Muslim Brotherhood leader, the detained Khairat Al-Shater, said that his father had in his hand evidence that will land the head of United States of America, President Obama, in prison. He stressed that the senior U.S. delegation currently visiting Egypt, knows full well that the fate, future, interests and reputation of their country is in the hands of his father, and they know that he owns the information, documents and recordings that incriminate and would condemn their country. Such documents, he says, were placed in the hands of people who were entrusted inside and outside Egypt, and that the release of his father is the only way for them to prevent a great catastrophe. He stated that a warning was sent threatening to show how the U.S. administration was directly connected. The evidence was sent through intermediaries which caused them to change their attitude and corrected their position, and that they have taken serious steps to prove good faith. Saad also said that his father’s safety is more important to the Americans than is the safety of Mohamed Morsi. Writing in his blog, Shoebat noted that six different Arabic sources confirmed the interview with Saad Al-Shater and the report of Al-Shater’s claims. Shoebat said the interview with Saad Al-Shater was Aug. 7, making it likely the reference to the “senior U.S. delegation currently visiting Egypt” was about the trip by McCain, Graham and U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns. On Aug. 6, with interim Egyptian Vice President Mohamed ElBaradei, the former general director of the U.N. International Atomic Energy Agency, McCain and Graham called Khairat Al-Shater and other jailed Muslim Brotherhood leaders “political prisoners.” They told reporters in Cairo that failing to release Muslim Brotherhood prisoners would be “a huge mistake.” Egypt’s interim president, Adly Mansour, rebuffed the U.S. delegation’s request, telling reporters in Cairo that it constituted an “unacceptable interference in internal politics.” On Aug. 6, the Associated Press reported the Egyptian government planned to prosecute Khairat Al-Shater and the other imprisoned Muslim Brotherhood leaders on charges of inciting violence last December when Muslim Brotherhood members attacked sit-in protestors outside then-President Mohamed Morsi’s office, resulting in the deaths of 10 people. ABC News reported that Burns traveled separately late Sunday night, Aug. 4, to the notorious Tora Prison in the middle of Cairo to meet with Khairat Al-Shater, despite claims by the Muslim Brotherhood that Al-Shater refused to meet. In an Aug. 6 interview with CNN in Egypt, McCain mentioned jailed Khairat Al-Shater, an openly acknowledged Muslim Brotherhood leader, when asked about individuals who could successfully negotiate a future Egyptian government.  The senators created controversy at a press conference in Cairo broadcast by Al Jazeera when McCain called the July 3 ouster of Morsi a “coup,” a word the Obama administration has resisted. Shoebat has published evidence documenting Khairat Al-Shater has been implicated in weapons trafficking through the Sinai and into Gaza as well as negotiating prisoner releases in exchange for terrorists. Former U.S. Attorney Joseph diGenova, legal representative for Benghazi whistleblower Mark Thompson, claimed this week that intelligence officers with knowledge of the attack on the Benghazi consulate believe it was was tied to 400 surface-to-air missiles intended for Syrian rebels that U.S. officials feared could be used to shoot down an airliner or attack a U.S. embassy. Two weeks after the Benghazi attack, WND was the first to report sources claiming the Benghazi compound was an intelligence and planning center the CIA used to recruit and arm Islamic rebels to fight Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Secretary of State Kerry is to be commended for declaring that the Egyptian military was "restoring democracy" by deposing Morsi. Now the U.S. should drop its flawed Muslim Brotherhood policy. Never a force for moderation, it should be recognized for what it is: An enemy of freedom and tolerance—a hate group with a long enemies list. There should be no more grants and no more White House visits for bigots. Let’s rejoin the original Tahrir Square campaigners and never again confuse the Brotherhood's successful leveraging of democratic process with their contempt for democratic values espoused by their Supreme Spiritual Leader Mustapha Mashour in 1981: “Democracy contradicts and wages war on Islam. Whoever calls for democracy means they are raising banner’s contradicting God’s plan and fighting Islam.” The world may have acquiesced to President Morsi’s escalating authoritarianism— but Egyptians did not. Morsi reneged on appointing a Christian woman as vice president, blocked a constitutional amendment limiting presidential power, and precipitated a walkout from Egypt’s Constituent Assembly by barring the Supreme Court from “interfering” while authorizing himself to take any measures “to protect the revolution.” While in power, the Brotherhood proved clueless about running an economy, yet retained boundless hate for its enemies. It’s 80- year vendetta against Jews inside and outside the Holy Land ranges from its WWII alliance with Hitler to creating genocidal Hamas. Brotherhood spiritual guides Mohamed Badi and Sheikh Qaradawi relentlessly stoke the hatred: “[We will] continue to raise the banner of jihad against the Jews, [our] first and foremost enemies . . .” declared Badi, adding, “resistance is the only solution against the Zion-American arrogance and tyranny.” Qaradawi, an al Jazeera favorite spouted, “Throughout history, Allah has imposed upon the [Jews] who would punish them for their corruption. The last punishment was carried out by Hitler…There is no dialogue between us [Muslims and Jews] except by the sword and rifle . . .. [We pray Allah] to take this oppressive, Jewish, Zionist band of people . . . kill them down to the very last one.” At a mosque to deliver his first “Unity” speech, President Morsi answered “Amen” to a Sheikh’s fervent prayer: “Deal with the Jews and their supporters. Oh Allah, disperse them, rend them asunder. Oh Allah, demonstrate Your might and greatness upon them. Show us Your omnipotence, oh Lord.” On Morsi’s watch, Cairo’s only synagogue lost its designation as a Jewish House of Worship. But Jews aren't Egypt’s “canary in the coal mine”, millions of Christian Copts are. Gatestone Institute, echoed in Christianity Today, reports that: “right at the beginning of the June 30 revolution, anonymous letters addressed to the Copts threatened them not to join the protests, otherwise their ‘businesses, cars, homes, schools, and churches’ might catch fire. . . .” Analyst Raymond Abraham wrote about violent post-Morsi attacks targeting Christians: “On July 3rd, in a village in al-Minya in Upper Egypt, the services building of St. George Church was looted and torched. Likewise, the evangelical Saleh Church in Delga was attacked and caught fire. . . According to the pastor . . . 'supporters of former President Morsi are engaged in continuous and unprecedented harassment of Copts. He said that a number of those people broke into the homes of Christians at gunpoint, terrorizing women, children and seizing gold jewelry and furniture’.” Elsewhere, Christians—particularly children—are kidnapped and held for ransom. The Washington Post reported on Islamist websites threatening action against anyone opposing implementation of Sharia law. A Coptic Christian woman lamented, “This is just the beginning. They won’t be happy until they steal everything we own and kill us all. How can anyone be full of so much hate?” It’s true millions of Egyptians continue supporting the Brotherhood, just as millions once supported Stalin and Hitler, but is that how we should gauge when America should remain silent? That was the disastrous mistake Winston Churchill saw repeated in England during the 1930’s -- the more powerful the Nazis became, the more accommodating Chamberlain tried to be. America cannot signal the world it is only willing to take on small-time bigots and terrorists. No one knows what Egypt will look like next month, let alone next year. But if millions of moderate Muslims, Christians and secularists have the courage to stand up to the hateful Muslim Brotherhood, dare we remain shamefully silent? The lawsuit filed last week by the Law Offices of David Yerushalmi, P.C. and the American Freedom Law Center (AFLC) has without-a-doubt exposed the nation's 'largest Muslim-American civil rights organization' for what it really is – a criminal organization funneling money from charitable donors, or those paying for misrepresented legal services, to networks like Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas to further these terrorists groups' stealth jihad movements in the United States.

"The evidence has long suggested that CAIR is an organization set up by the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas to further its aims of stealth jihad in the United States," commented Yerushalmi, referring to the fact that CAIR was named by the federal government as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing trial.

But instead of condemning the organization earlier this year when the administration clearly had the chance, Attorney General Eric Holder dropped ALL charges against CAIR and Omar Ahmad, one of CAIR's co-founders and its chairman emeritus who was named along with the organization itself in the terror finance indictments after FBI wiretaps exposed he and current CAIR executive director Nihad Awad attended a 1993 meeting of Hamas leaders in Philadelphia!

"According to the facts that are carefully laid out in our legal brief and fully supported by the record evidence," Yerushalmi explained, "CAIR has engaged in a massive criminal fraud in which numerous CAIR clients have been victimized, and because of the CAIR cover up many still don't realize it. The fact that CAIR has victimized Muslims and non-Muslims alike demonstrates that it is only looking out for itself and its ongoing efforts to bilk donors out of millions of dollars of charitable donations thinking they are supporting a legitimate organization."

Not only is CAIR racketeering for its own benefit – it is racketeering for Islamist extremists hellbent on transforming the United States from a free nation where there is no established state religion, freedom of worship, and equal civil rights regardless of color, gender or creed (to name a few) to an oppressed Islamist nation where there is only one sanctioned religion and Shariah is the law of the land!

According to the court filings, among the fraud and racketeering charges CAIR knew or should have known they were providing clients with illegitimate legal counsel for the purpose of lining their own pockets.

The Muslim Brotherhood satellite group perpetuated and then concealed that Morris Days, the "Resident Attorney" and "Civil Rights Manager" at the now defunct CAIR-MD/VA chapter was in fact NOT an attorney and was NOT legitimately handling cases for which CAIR had received fees!

To make matters worse, evidence shows that CAIR leadership knew about this fraud and then purposefully conspired with Days to cover it up, leading the five plaintiffs in this case to take legal action. Many more victims are revealed in the hundreds of pages of evidence.

Robert Muise, co-counsel in the lawsuit and Co-Founder and Senior Counsel of AFLC, commented: "The overwhelming evidence marshaled in this case will finally put to rest the myth fabricated by CAIR's PR machine and perpetrated by a complicit media that this is a legitimate Muslim-American civil rights organization. This lawsuit strips away CAIR's veil of legitimacy."

This extremist front organization for underground Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas movements right here in America has gotten off the hook during an earlier lawsuit against its fraudulent practices due to a technicality, but this time CAIR must be taken to task for violating our laws!

This is our opportunity to dismantle the largest Islamist terror-sponsoring network operating in America. We CAN stop the spread of unconstitutional, anti-republican and anti-American Shariah law in our communities and across the nation. But we MUST act with conviction against criminal activity – including acts of sedition against our ordered liberty.

If not stopped, the barbarism of Shariah law will take society back to the Middle Ages, just as in Pakistan where a 14 year-old girl can be shot in the head by the Taliban for advocating education for women and girls, while Washington in all its political correctness watches it happen rather than risk stepping on toes or offending their Islamist friends and political allies.

Rather than take action to reject and hold accountable the nefarious, repressive imams and their medieval totalitarian agenda, our federal government is selling out those who come here toescape such tyranny, AND the American people, to the terrorists. Just like this administration did by failing to take action againstjihadis in Benghazi when the consulate came under siege and abandoned Americans to die, the so-called elites REFUSE to defend American interests, principles and law right here in the United States! With the exception of a few key Members of Congress who are standing firm, jihadists and Muslim Brotherhood extremists have America playing defense all around the world – and even at home.

Pam Gellar at her Atlas Shrugged blog documents the infiltration of Islamic fundamentalism in America: "Take, for example, BIMA spokesman Jibril Hough. Hough's mosque, the Islamic Center of Charlotte, is owned by a Muslim Brotherhood group, the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT), which was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation Hamas terror funding case… (Just like CAIR!)

Meanwhile, the "Grand Imam" for the Democrat Party National Convention's Islamic Jumah was none other than Siraj Wahhaj… Wahhaj was several years ago designated a 'potential unindicted co-conspirator' in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. He himself has denounced this designation as essentially meaningless, but he didn't earn it by doing nothing. In the early 1990s he squired the Blind Sheikh, Omar Abdel Rahman, all around New York City and New Jersey, sponsoring talks by him in area mosques. The Blind Sheikh, of course, is now serving a life sentence for his role in the first World Trade Center bombing in 1993, as well as in jihad plots to blow up the Lincoln and Holland Tunnels."

As expert and analyst Robert Spencer diligently maps out, these unabashed jihadists are on the public record asserting that "if only Muslims were clever politically, they could take over the United States and replace its constitutional government with a caliphate," and "all Islamic movements oppose America's policies."

Jibril has also publicly admitted he is the North Carolina head of the Islamic Political Party of America (IPPA), based in Charlotte, who in a 2002 press release claimed the Jews were behind 9/11. IPPA is associated with Jamaat Al Muslimeen (JAM), The Islamic Peoples Movement, who are Holocaust deniers and vicious Jew-haters.

Jabril, like Wahhaj is linked to NAIT through membership in the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), which was deemed by the U.S. courts to be a front for the terrorist HAMAS and the Muslim Brotherhood. Both Jabril and Wahhaj, the "stars" of the DNC Jumah, have repeatedly attacked Congresswoman Sue Myrick (R-NC) another member of the House Intelligence Committee who has been vigilant about Islamist activity. They are closely and persistently connected to U.S. Representative Keith Ellison, first Muslim ever elected to Congress, and former associate of anti-Semite, black supremacist and hate-monger Louis Farrakhan.

Yet, despite its unrepentant jihadism, Shariah promotion, and ties to Jew-hating; despite its seditious record and subversive purposes, the entire program of the "Jumah at the DNC" production is being endorsed by the Democrat Party in vote pandering and fealty to rampant multi-culturalism. In pursuit of partisan gain, the DNC lavishly indulged Muslim victimhood-in-America-mongering, and falsely advertised the organized Islamic presence in America as a benign, apolitical religion of peace.

This false picture has, like Obama's administration generally, dealt with America-hating Islamist reality at the expense at the risk of national security. This is just as good little dhimmis (subjugated non-Muslims appeasing and surrendering to forms of Muslim conquest) are supposed to behave, but it is fundamentally un-American. By their own creed, "authentic" Islam and Shariah are incompatible with universal natural rights, and seek to overthrow the very foundation of the American republic.

Here are some hard facts:
Obama and the whole Democratic National Convention propaganda machinery joined in with Muslim political fronts to confuse and confound America – and while looking all "tolerant" they successfully pandered up most all of the Muslim-American vote! They will not tolerate ANY appropriate scrutiny upon the clear and present danger our nation faces from Middle East terrorist-associated penetration into the Obama administration, our federal government agencies, and our national security and defense apparatus.

A cavalcade of Islamic supremacy groups continue to pull out all the stops to defame the U.S. Congress "national security five" and lie about House member requests to federal inspectors general – in a CAIR-orchestrated campaign to bully Congress into repudiating valid demands for oversight! Bringing forward the truth about CAIR in the context of this federal court case is a vital national security imperative!

It has been a full-court press PR attacks on the five brave Congressional leaders. Along with the DNC Islam-athon, Obama used the occasion of remarks at his fourth annual White Houseiftar dinner to single out Huma Abedin for praise and protection from scrutiny. The international headlines were of Obama's "highly public and strong statement of presidential support" of his "good friend" Abedin.Obama pronounced:
"Huma is an American patriot, and an example of what we need in this country – more public servants with her sense of decency, her grace and her generosity of spirit. So, on behalf of all Americans, we thank you so much."

Then has followed a flood of disclosures of Abedin's documented personal and professional history of association with Muslim Brotherhood-funded fronts! Oops.

As former Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney McCarthy has said, speaking directly to charges that Huma Abedin is being unfairly challenged about her various ties to the Muslim Brotherhood: "'Guilt by association' has nothing to do with fitness for high public office.High public office is a privilege, not a right. Access to classified information is a privilege, not a right. 
You need not have done anything wrong to be deemed unfit for these privileges… It is not a question of your patriotism or your trustworthiness. It is about whether you would be burdened by such obvious conflicts of interest that you would be tempted to act on those interests, rather than in the best interests of the United States."

Never mind that Obama's own Secretary of Department of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, was compelled under oath to reveal in Congressional hearings that "from time to time" terrorists do IN FACT enter, and remain, in these United States!

Apparently, we are not allowed to inquire, or identify, or investigate who these infiltrators might be, or with whom they might be working. This is discriminatory profiling, a witch-hunt, McCarthyism no less!

Along with Huma Abedin, there are at least six other persons with Muslim Brotherhood ties whose involvement in Obama administration "Muslim outreach" and/or related policy-making also deserve investigation by the IGs and the Congress:

• Rashad Hussain, Special Envoy to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation;


• Dalia, a member of Homeland Security Department's Advisory Council;


• Mohamed Magid, a member Mogahed, an advisor to President Obama;


• Mohamed Elibiary of the Homeland Security Department's Countering-Violent Extremism Working Group;


• Louay Safi, until recently the credentialing authority for Muslim chaplains in the U.S. military and now a leader of the Brotherhood-dominated Syrian National Council; and


• Kifah Mustapha, a Hamas-fundraiser and graduate of the FBI's 'Citizens Academy'

The Islamists, their champion on Capitol Hill, Rep. Keith Ellison, (MI), the Left-wing blogosphere and their useful idiot Senator John McCain (AZ) pretty much came unhinged with ad hominem and scurrilous attacks on Reps. Michele Bachmann, Trent Franks, Louie Gohmert, Tom Rooney and Lynn Westmoreland for letters they have rightly written seeking investigations by five federal inspectors general of this threat.

The letters say the Muslim Brotherhood, the international Islamist movement that recently came to power in Egypt with help from the Obama administration, has made "deep penetration" within the U.S. government, and that an investigation of its influence within the five federal agencies is warranted.

To Keith Ellison, one of two Muslims members of the U.S. Congress and Obama buddy, influence in the U.S. government by the Muslim Brotherhood is just "nonsense, a phantom." But no actual refutation of the 16 pages of Congressional documentation outlining the problems warranting investigation has been offered by the Islamist apologists.

The Muslim Brotherhood is perhaps the world's most influential Islamist organization, and publicly has proclaimed a mission "to unite traditional Islam with modern democracy" in Middle Eastern nations.This may sound benign to Western ears, but the internal messaging is far more sinister – global caliphate, Shariah law, destruction of Israel, subordination of women, oppression of minorities and forced conversions…

"ALLAH IS OUR OBJECTIVE, MUHAMMAD IS OUR PROPHET, THE QUR'AN IS OUR LAW, JIHAD IS OUR WAY, AND DYING IN THE WAY OF ALLAH IS OUR HIGHEST ASPIRATION!"

That is the Muslim Brotherhood motto. And that is what Barack Hussein Obama is supporting in Egypt and throughout the Middle East – and AT HOME IN THE U.S.A. – with your tax dollars. We MUST STOP Obama and the left from facilitating the stealthy infiltration of the Muslim Brotherhood and Shariah penetration of our country's institutions – and those of other Western countries, as well.

The Muslim Brotherhood's global influence has been growing for decades, and further increased when one of its candidates, Mohamed Morsi, was declared winner of Egypt's 2012 presidential election.

And the five Congress members, who sit on Congress' Intelligence Committee and receive frequent classified briefings about Jihad and the Islamic conflict with the West, see the Muslim Brotherhood as a growing domestic threat, given the Brotherhood's well-documented history of international terror-ties, violence and seditious global extremism.

The lawmakers singled out the movement last month in letters to federal defense, diplomatic, intelligence and law-enforcement agencies, requesting investigations into whether – and through whom – the Muslim Brotherhood is exerting influence within the Barack Obama administration.
My good friend Frank Gaffney of the Center for Security Policy has no doubts about the validity of the Congressional requests, despite the full-court press defense of Huma Abedin by the political establishment and 'witch-hunt' cries by the mainstream media:

"…former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy, former Muslim Brother Walid Shoebat and other researchers established a direct tie between Huma Abedin and a Muslim Brotherhood front, the Institute for Muslim Minority Affairs (IMMA). IMMA was established essentially as an Abedin family business by Abdullah Omar Naseef, an officially designated al Qaeda financier.

Shortly after IMMA was founded under his chairmanship, Naseef became the secretary general of the Muslim World League (MWL) which Mr. McCarthy described as: "the Saudi-financed global propagation enterprise by which the Muslim Brotherhood's virulently anti-Western brand of Islamist ideology is seeded throughout the world, very much including in the United States…. It happens that Huma Abedin was listed for twelve years on the masthead of the IMMA's journal as an associate editor. For at least seven of those years, Omar Naseef was also listed as a member of the editorial advisory board."

The questions continue to have great urgency, because of Ms. Abedin's role in the Department of State and the lead State has taken in promoting Muslim Brotherhood-friendly policies. It has never been controversial that having prior associations or having close family members in extremist foreign organizations is disqualifying for national security clearances. If this is no longer the case in the Obama administration, what now is the standard? Those assailing these legislators clearly hope to deflect attention from such questions in a larger inquiry or, if possible, suppress investigation entirely.

Reps. Louie Gohmert, Michele Bachmann and their colleagues are applying NEEDED pressure with the Inspectors General investigation demands for Congress to do its duty, and take responsibility for national security in a corrupt and compromised administration.

These Congressional champions are standing true to their oath of office and Constitutional principles, and demanding Congress do its sworn duty – DEFEND OUR NATION. They are taking the heat to STAND UP and fight for us. We need to STAND UP and support them, and DEMAND legislative action to protect and defend our nation!

Florida's U.S. Rep. Sandy Adams has sponsored H.R. 973 which forbids foreign law – including Shariah – from our United States court system.
As CAIR is, we may hope and pray, finally being exposed and brought to book in our courts, TODAY let's send a strong message to Congress that we DEMAND American principles and standards of justice to prevail in the land of the free and the home of the brave!

CAIRO –  Hundreds of protesters clashed with police in Cairo's Tahrir Square on Sunday, marking the third day of violence sparked by Egyptian President President Mohammed Morsi's decision to grant himself extensive new powers.

Riot police used tear gas as protesters hurled rocks toward them in the center of the square, where tents were erected on Friday as part of a sit-in demonstration organized by various Egyptian political groups, according to a Reuters report.

Prominent Egyptian democracy advocate Mohammed ElBaradei warned Saturday of increasing turmoil that could potentially lead to the military stepping in unless the Islamist president rescinds his new, near absolute powers, as the country's long fragmented opposition sought to unite and rally new protests.

Egypt's liberal and secular forces -- long divided, weakened and uncertain amid the rise of Islamist parties to power -- are seeking to rally themselves in response to the decrees issued this week by Morsi. The president granted himself sweeping powers to "protect the revolution" and made himself immune to judicial oversight.

The judiciary, which was the main target of Morsi's edicts, pushed back Saturday. The country's highest body of judges, the Supreme Judical Council, called his decrees an "unprecedented assault." Courts in the Mediterranean city of Alexandria announced a work suspension until the decrees are lifted.

Outside the high court building in Cairo, several hundred demonstrators rallied against Morsi, chanting, "Leave! Leave!" echoing the slogan used against former leader Hosni Mubarak in last year's uprising that ousted him. Police fired tear gas to disperse a crowd of young men who were shooting flares outside the court.

The edicts issued Wednesday have galvanized anger brewing against Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood, from which he hails, ever since he took office in June as Egypt's first freely elected president. Critics accuse the Brotherhood -- which has dominated elections the past year -- and other Islamists of monopolizing power and doing little to bring real reform or address Egypt's mounting economic and security woes.

Oppositon groups have called for new nationwide rallies Tuesday -- and the Muslim Brotherhood has called for rallies supporting Morsi the same day, setting the stage for new violence.

Morsi supporters counter that the edicts were necessary to prevent the courts, which already dissolved the elected lower house of parliament, from further holding up moves to stability by disbanding the assembly writing the new constitution, as judges were considering doing. Like parliament was, the assembly is dominated by Islamists. Morsi accuses Mubarak loyalists in the judiciary of seeking to thwart the revolution's goals and barred the judiciary from disbanding the constitutional assembly or parliament's upper house.

In an interview Saturday with a handful of journalists, including The Associated Press, Nobel Peace laureate ElBaradei raised alarm over the impact of Morsi's rulings, saying he had become "a new pharaoh."

"There is a good deal of anger, chaos, confusion. Violence is spreading to many places and state authority is starting to erode slowly," he said. "We hope that we can manage to do a smooth transition without plunging the country into a cycle of violence. But I don't see this happening without Mr. Morsi rescinding all of this."

Speaking of Egypt's powerful military, ElBaradei said, "I am sure they are as worried as everyone else. You cannot exclude that the army will intervene to restore law and order" if the situation gets out of hand.

But anti-Morsi factions are chronically divided, with revolutionary youth activists, new liberal political parties that have struggled to build a public base and figures from the Mubarak era, all of whom distrust each other. The judiciary is also an uncomfortable cause for some to back, since it includes many Mubarak appointees who even Morsi opponents criticize as too tied to the old regime.

Opponents say the edicts gave Morsi near dictatorial powers, neutering the judiciary when he already holds both executive and legislative powers. One of his most controversial edicts gave him the right to take any steps to stop "threats to the revolution," vague wording that activists say harkens back to Mubarak-era emergency laws.

Tens of thousands of people took to the streets in nationwide protests on Friday, sparking clashes between anti-and pro-Morsi crowds in several cities that left more than 200 people wounded.

On Saturday, new clashed broke out in the southern city of Assiut. Morsi opponents and members of the Muslim Brotherhood swung sticks and threw stones at each other outside the offices of the Brotherhood's political party, leaving at least seven injured.

ElBaradei and a six other prominent liberal leaders have announced the formation of a National Salvation Front aimed at rallying all non-Islamist groups together to force Morsi to rescind his edicts.

The National Salvation Front leadership includes several who ran against Morsi in this year's presidential race -- Hamdeen Sabahi, who finished a close third, former foreign minister Amr Moussa and moderate Islamist Abdel-Moneim Aboul-Fotouh. ElBaradei says the group is also pushing for the creation of a new constitutional assembly and a unity government.

ElBaradei said it would be a long process to persuade Morsi that he "cannot get away with murder."

"There is no middle ground, no dialogue before he rescinds this declaration. There is no room for dialogue until then."

The grouping seems to represent a newly assertive political foray by ElBaradei, the former chief of the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency. ElBaradei returned to Egypt in the year before Mubarak's fall, speaking out against his rule, and was influential with many of the youth groups that launched the anti-Mubarak revolution.

But since Mubarak's fall, he has been criticized by some as too Westernized, elite and Hamlet-ish, reluctant to fully assert himself as an opposition leader.

The Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice political party, once headed by Morsi, said Saturday in a statement that the president's decision protects the revolution against former regime figures who have tried to erode elected institutions and were threatening to dissolve the constitutional assembly.

The Brotherhood warned in another statement that there were forces trying to overthrow the elected president in order to return to power. It said Morsi has a mandate to lead, having defeated one of Mubarak's former prime ministers this summer in a closely contested election.

Morsi's edicts also removed Abdel-Meguid Mahmoud, the prosecutor general first appointed by Mubarak, who many Egyptians accused of not prosecuting former regime figures strongly enough.

Speaking to a gathering of judges cheering support for him at the high court building in Cairo, Mahmoud warned of a "vicious campaign" against state institutions. He also said judicial authorities are looking into the legality of the decision to remove him -- setting up a Catch-22 of legitimacy, since under Morsi's decree, the courts cannot overturn any of his decisions.

"I thank you for your support of judicial independence," he told the judges.

"Morsi will have to reverse his decision to avoid the anger of the people," said Ahmed Badrawy, a labor ministry employee protesting at the courthouse. "We do not want to have an Iranian system here," he added, referring to fears that hardcore Islamists may try to turn Egypt into a theocracy.

Muslim Brotherhood May Destroy Egyptian Culture

It begins: "Largely secular" Muslim Brotherhood sets its sights on "beach tourism" as Salafists say antiquities are of a "rotten culture"

The things that we were assured won't, can't, or ought not to happen after the Egyptian revolution are happening. Egypt's economy will suffer, leading to widespread discontent and potential political unrest. Good thing there's always Israel to blame. Sunbathing in Alexandria may soon be a thing of the past, at least if some Egyptian Islamist politicians have their way.

Egypt's tourism industry has suffered a severe blow since the outburst of anti-regime demonstrations in January. But that did not stop the Freedom and Justice Party, the political wing of the Muslim Brotherhood, from demanding stricter regulations over what tourists can do and wear while visiting the country. The party is urging officials to ban skimpy swimwear and the consumption of alcohol on Egyptian streets.

Freedom and Justice: you are free to obey Sharia, which will be given a monopoly on the definition of "justice."

"Beach tourism must take the values and norms of our society into account," Muhammad Saad Al-Katatny, secretary-general of Freedom and Justice, told Egyptian tourism officials on Monday. "We must place regulations on tourists wishing to visit Egypt, which we will announce in advance."

The call for new strictures on tourists comes as Egypt debates the role of Islam in the post-Mubarak era. Freedom and Justice is competing in elections scheduled for this autumn for parliament and opinion polls show a majority of Egyptians favor a greater use of Islamic law and mores. But a vocal minority worries that Egypt risks becoming an Islamic republic.

But the Obama administration's director of national intelligence said the Brotherhood was "largely secular."

"This is how things began in Iran," Hani Henry, a psychology professor at the American University in Cairo, told The Media Line. "The moderate youth wanted to implement changes, but the mullah's hijacked the revolution. The same thing is now happening here in Egypt with the Muslim Brotherhood. It makes me sick to my stomach."

Yes. As with Iran, many were duped by the promises of change. Technically, thing did change, just not for the better.

Along with Suez Canal tolls and energy exports, tourism is a major source of foreign exchange for Egypt. But with protests, strikes, and continued violence in the cities and Sinai Peninsula months after President Husni Mubarak was forced to step down, foreigners have hesitated to visit the country, which offers some of the world’s most spectacular antiquities as well as beaches and scuba diving.

Finance Minister Hazem Al-Beblawi told the Reuters news agency earlier this month that revenue from tourism would likely total $10 billion in the financial year that started on July 1, compared with $11.6 billion in 2009/10.

Al-Katatny told Al-Masry Al-Youm daily that his party had already set up a subcommittee to investigate the issue of incoming tourism to Egypt and planned to amend legislation following the upcoming parliamentary elections.

"Some slight changes will be made in public beaches, to make the situation better than it was before," Ali Khafagy, youth director of Freedom and Justice in Giza, told The Media Line. "Bathing suits and mixing on the beach are things that go against our tradition. It's not just a matter of religion. When I go to the beach I don't want to see nudity."

He said modest bathing gear or separate beaches for men and women are possible alternatives to the current situation.

They'll get a foot in the door and go from there.

Khafagy stressed that tourists would be free to do as they please in specially designated areas, adding that his party supported tourism to the country. But that did not satisfy the heads of Egypt's tourism industry, who met with the party’s secretary-general Al-Katatny for a heated debate on Monday.

"Without alcohol and bathing suits, no tourists will come and we will lose $13 billion a year," Hussam A-Shaer, head of the tourist company association, told Al-Masry al-Youm.

Then there are the antiquities, and what happens to those relics of jahiliyyah under Sharia:

But bathing suits are not the only worry of Egypt’s Islamists. Abd Al-Munim A-Shahhat, a spokesman for the Salafi group Dawa, has said that Egypt's world-renowned pharaonic archeology – its pyramids, Sphinx and other monuments covered with un-Islamic imagery – should also be hidden from the public eye.

"The pharaonic culture is a rotten culture," A-Shahhat told the London-based Arab daily A-Sharq Al-Awsat on Wednesday, saying the faces of ancient statues "should be covered with wax, since they are religiously forbidden." He likened the Egyptian relics to the idols which circled the walls of Mecca in pre-Islamic times. [...]

Henry of the American University said two classes of beaches already exist in Egypt, with modestly dressed, generally poor Egyptians occupying some and foreign tourists occupying others, mostly in the resorts of the Sinai Peninsula. He said he considered imposition of sharia law in Egypt "an act of aggression" that he would not tolerate.

Islamists have never been enamored of foreign tourism and before they were crushed by the Mubarak regime foreign visitors were often targeted for killings. Close to 60 Western tourists were killed by Islamist terrorists in the southern city of Luxor in 1997. Tourists were also attacked in bombings in the Sinai resorts of Taba, Sharm Al-Sheikh and Dahab in 2004, 2005 and 2006.

But Al-Katatny said that the Muslim Brotherhood regards Egypt's archeology as belonging to all of humanity, and should therefore be safeguarded.

"This heritage belongs to everyone, and one can't simply remove something he doesn't like," he told Al-Ahram daily.

The Tipping Point: Embracing the Muslim Brotherhood

The Obama administration chose the eve of the holiday marking our Nation's birth to acknowledge publicly behavior in which it has long been stealthily engaged to the United States' extreme detriment: Its officials now admit that they are embracing the Muslim Brotherhood (MB or Ikhwan in Arabic). That would be the same international Islamist organization that has the destruction of the United States, Israel and all other parts of the Free World as its explicit objective.

On Thursday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton tried to downplay the momentousness of this major policy shift by portraying it during a stopover in Budapest as follows: "The Obama administration is continuing the approach of limited contacts with the Muslim Brotherhood that have existed on and off for about five or six years." In fact, as former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy points out in a characteristically brilliant, and scathing, dissection of this announcement, Team Obama's official, open legitimation of the Brotherhood marks a dramatic break from the U.S. government's historical refusal to deal formally with the Ikhwan.

To understand why the Obama administration's embrace of the Muslim Brotherhood is so ominous, consider three insights into the organization's nature and ambitions:

First, here's the MB's creed: "Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. The Qur'an is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope." (Source: Husain Haqqani and Hillel Fradkin, "Islamist Parties: Going Back to the Origins.")

Second, here's the Ikwhan's mission in America:

"A kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within, sabotaging its miserable house with their [i.e., Americans'] hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all other religions." (Source: Muslim Brotherhood's "Explanatory Memorandum on the General Strategic Goals of the Group," entered into evidence by the Department of Justice in the 2008 Holy Land Foundation terrorism-finance trial. Third, here are excerpts from the Muslim Brotherhood's "phased plan" for accomplishing that mission:

Phase One: Discreet and secret establishment of leadership.
Phase Two: Phase of gradual appearance on the public scene and exercising and utilizing various public activities. It greatly succeeded in implementing this stage. It also succeeded in achieving a great deal of its important goals, such as infiltrating various sectors of the Government.
Phase Three: Escalation phase, prior to conflict and confrontation with the rulers, through utilizing mass media. Currently in progress.
Phase Four: Open public confrontation with the Government through exercising the political pressure approach. It is aggressively implementing the above-mentioned approach. Training on the use of weapons domestically and overseas in anticipation of zero-hour. It has noticeable activities in this regard.

In short, the Muslim Brotherhood is deadly serious about waging what it calls "civilization jihad" against the United States and other freedom-loving nations in order to secure their submission to the Islamic totalitarian political-military-legal doctrine called shariah. The MB's goal in this country is to replace our Constitution with theirs, namely the Koran. And they regard this task as one commanded by none other than Allah. To this end, as Andy McCarthy notes in the aforementioned essay, the MB's senior official, Supreme Guide Muhammad Badi, has effectively declared war on the United States.

Were there any doubt that legitimacy is what the Ikhwan is taking away from this gambit, consider this assessment from an expert in Islamic groups, Ammar Ali Hassan, cited by Associated Press: "...The Brotherhood will likely try to float ‘conditions' or ‘reservations' on any dialogue to avoid a perception that it is allowing the U.S. to meddle in Egypt's internal affairs. But in the end, the talks will give a boost to the group, he said, by easing worries some in the Brotherhood and the public have of a backlash if the Brotherhood becomes the dominant player in Egypt. ‘Now the Muslim Brotherhood will not have to worry [about] moving forward toward taking over power,' Hassan said." Unfortunately, the U.S. government's dangerous outreach to the Ikhwan is not confined to Egypt but is systematically practiced inside the United States, as well. For example:

• Muslim-American organizations identified in court by the U.S. government - and, in many cases, by the Muslim Brotherhood itself - as MB fronts are routinely cultivated by federal, state and local officials. Representatives of homeland security, Pentagon, intelligence and law enforcement agencies frequently meet with and attend functions sponsored by such groups.
  
  
• MB-associated individuals are sent as our country's "goodwill ambassadors" to foreign Muslim nations and communities. MB-favored initiatives to insinuate shariah into the United States - notably, the Ground Zero Mosque and shariah-compliant finance, conscientious objector status for Muslim servicemen and stifling of free speech in accordance with shariah "blasphemy" laws - are endorsed and/or enabled by official institutions.
  
  
• A blind eye is turned to the presence across the country of shariah-adherent mosques that incubate jihadism. A peer-reviewed study published last month in Middle East Quarterly determined that 81% of a random sample of 100 mosques exhibited such qualities - constituting an infrastructure for recruitment, indoctrination and training consistent with the Brotherhood's phased plan.
  
  
• Under both Republican and Democratic administrations, individuals with family and other ties to the Muslim Brotherhood have actually given senior government positions. The most recent of these to come to light is Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's Deputy Chief of Staff, Huma Abedin (who also happens to be former Rep. Anthony Weiner's wife).
  It seems a safe bet that, as Team Obama legitimates Muslim Brotherhood organizations and groups overseas, it will feel ever less constrained about further empowering their counterparts in the United States. If so, the MB will come to exercise even greater influence over what our government does and does not do about the threat posed by shariah, both abroad and here.
  

The absolutely predictable effect will be to undermine U.S. interests and allies in the Middle East and further catalyze the Brotherhood's campaign to insinuate shariah in the United States and, ultimately, to supplant the Constitution with Islamic law. Consequently, the Obama administration's efforts to "engage" the Muslim Brotherhood are not just reckless. They are wholly incompatible with the President's oath to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States" and the similar commitment made by his subordinates.

These officials' now-open embrace of the Muslim Brotherhood constitutes a geo-strategic tipping point, one that must catalyze an urgent national debate on this question: Does such conduct violate their oath of office by endangering the Constitution they have undertaken to uphold?

At a minimum, such a debate would afford a much-needed opportunity to examine alternatives to the administration's present course - as well as the real risks associated with that its intensifying pursuit. For instance, one of the most astute American authorities on the Middle East in general and the Muslim Brotherhood in particular, Dr. Michael Rubin of the American Enterprise Institute, wrote in a posting at The American blog yesterday:

"Rather than embrace the Brotherhood, the Obama administration should be seeking to ensure that the group cannot dominate Egypt. Most analysts agree that the Muslim Brotherhood is by far the best organized group in Egypt, but that it only enjoys perhaps 25 or 30 percent support. The secular opposition remains weak and fractured. If the Obama administration wishes to remain engaged in Egypt's future and shape the best possible outcome for both U.S. national security and the Egyptian people, it should be pushing for electoral reform to change Egypt's dysfunctional system to a proportional representation model in which the secular majority can form a coalition to check a Muslim Brotherhood minority for which true democracy is anathema."

The same goes for the enemy within. Instead of relying upon - let alone hiring - Muslim Brotherhood operatives and associates, the United States government should be shutting down their fronts, shariah-adherent, jihad-incubating "community centers" and insidious influence operations in America. By recognizing these enterprises for what they are, namely vehicles for fulfilling the seditious goals of the MB's civilization jihad, they can and must be treated as prosecutable subversive enterprises, not protected religious ones under the U.S. Constitution.
